Languedoc Roussillon
This region is one of contrasts and it is difficult to decide where to start. The south east has the foothills of the Pyrenees with good skiing in the winter months, north from here is the truly remarkable Carcassonne. The citadel is a fully restored medieval town and deserves its World Heritage status. The 14th July fireworks display “la nuit du feu” are just incredible and well worth planning a trip around. Moving towards the coast, the beaches of Narbonne offer miles of perfect sand and the site for good family fun. Montpelier is one of the liveliest cities in the south of France, it is a university town and centre for medical research and there is always something going on. Add to this the regional wine, the hinterlands of Haut Languedoc, the Roman remains and hill top monasteries and you have all the ingredients for a great holiday.
