Auvergne
The Auvergne is a popular region throughout the year. The Massif Central national parks offer skiing in the winter and trekking and cycling in the summer. The Monts Domes volcanoes are yust 4000 years old. Now thankfully extinct, the classic forms are still toped with enormous crater mouths. There is also a good scattering of spar towns and massive granite formations. There are also hundreds of churches, chateaux and museums for the culture vultures and some rather respectable wines.
