The mountains in the south of the region are truly spectacular and popular with walkers as well as the normal ski set. The area is also rich with unique wildlife. Further north, the market towns of Perigueux, Cahors and Albi make good bases for exploring the region. This is wine country again with Bergerac and the fine Armagnac of particular note. Bring plenty of pocket money if you want to buy a 100 year old bottle but why not treat yourself to a vintage as old as you? The spectacular Lot Valley, Sarlat, Rocamadourand the Bastide towns also should be part of your itinerary. For something a little different the European Space Park, Cite de l’Espace is fascinating.
